Hayley Orrantia is she is an American performer, songwriter and actress. People are most familiar with her character Erica Goldberg in the comedy The Goldbergs' TV show. However, she considers herself mostly as a musician. At the age of 9 of age, she was dabbling into music. By the time she reached age 12, she had taken serious enough about music to start studying professionally. The singer-songwriter began writing songs at 13 and was 14 when she released her first collection of cover songs. And the rest is history. Orrantia has Hispanic heritage, yet was born in the USA. Although she never lived or was a Spanish speaker in Mexico, she still feels extremely proud of her Hispanic roots. She hopes to protect it through the creation of Spanish songs and taking classes in the language. "Hasta Verte," a track she composed in Spanish is one such attempt. Orrantia appeared in The X Factor season 1's auditions during the summer 2011. Orrantia's YouTube video was selected and she was awarded four "yeses" which is a vote by the judges at the Seattle audition. Her initial audition was performing as a solo artist, however in the course of "Hollywood Week", three other female performers were put in a group to continue the auditions. The live performances were held in the fifth week.
